The Ranthambore National Park, spread over an area of 400 sq km, is situated in the state of Rajasthan between the Aravali and Vindhya ranges. The park with its large population of tigers, is an ideal place to spot the wily beast in its natural habitat. Ranthambore became a sanctuary in 1955, and was declared a part of the Project Tiger in 1973. In 1981 it finally got the status of a national park. The beautiful lush green surroundings and the numerous water bodies coupled with the thrill of spotting wild animals make the journey through the park a truly wonderful experience. The tigers of Ranthambore can be spotted easily in the daytime as they are known to hunt even in the presence of man. The Ranthambore National Park, with its wide variety of flora and fauna, is a paradise for wlidlife enthusiasts and photographers. Another major attraction of the park is the Ranthambore Fort after which the park is named.

If you are a wildlife enthusiast and want to see wild animals and birds in their natural habitat then Ranthambore National Park is the place to be. The Park houses a wide variety of flora and fauna. The long list of animal and plant species found here includes trees, aquatic plants, birds, reptiles and mammals. Tigers are the main attraction of the park. Other variety of fauna in the region include sambar, chital, nilgai, gazzelle, boars, mongoose, Indian hare, monitor lizards and a large number of birds.

Ranthambore Fort The Ranthambore Park is named after the Ranthambore Fort which has a history dating back to the 10th century. No visit to the park is complete without a visit to this magnificent fort, situated in the heart of the Ranthambore park. Built by a Chuahan king, the fort acted as an important point for controlling the Malwa plateau.
Jogi Mahal :
The Jogi Mahal is a rest house situated in the Ranthambore National Park. The rest house, providing good quality facilities for the tourists, is an ideal place for spotting wild animals while getting a feel of living in the middle of a jungle.

* park remains open from October to June.
* The timings of the park are October to March > 0600 hrs - 0900 hrs & 1500 hrs - 1800 hrs, April To June > 0630 hrs - to 0930 hrs & 1530 hrs - 1800 hrs.
* Light clothes are recommended during summer and woollen clothes during winters.
* Vehicles (on hire) and guides are available at the entry gates for nominal charges.
How to Reach
Ranthambore National Park is situated in India's northwestern state of Rajasthan, near the town of Sawai Madhopur, midway between Bharatpur and Kota.
By Air - The nearest airports are situated at Jaipur (140 km) and Kota from where regular flights connect the place to all major Indian cities.
By Rail - The nearest railway station is the Sawai Madhopur railway station which is just 11 km from the park. Local transportation is available from Sawai Madhopur to Ranthambore park.
By Road - The park is accessible from all cities in Rajasthan. Buses, taxis and other local transport can be hired to reach Ranthambore by road.
