Go Green in Singapore Mock fish and sweet and sour monkey head mushroom (specially flown in from China) don’t sound like vegetarian fare. But in Singapore, this is what strict vegetarians can eat at Lingzhi Vegetarian Restaurant without any twinges of conscience.
Going green in Singapore has its advantages, states Singapore Tourism News. You can join in the lo-hei or the traditional tossing of yu sheng salad at one of the handful of vegetarian restaurants in the city-state. Lingzhi vegetarian restaurant serves mock fish, braised spinach soup in bamboo pith and crisps fried mushroom rolls with soya vinaigrette.
The Fut Sai Kai vegetarian restaurant serves Buddhist cuisine. Aptly named Monks’ World, you can spot monks and nuns enjoying the eatery’s vegetarian meals. There are dishes like lo hanzai (mixed vegetables), mock char sieve (roasted sweet pork), mock roast duck and vegetarian vermicelli. And the best part of the deal is that you don’t have to pay more.
