Thus its presence on all occasions - social, cultural, religious good or bad, - is considered auspicious. Till not very long ago, in every Rajput family home - whether it was a small castle or a big fort - the singular most horrifying ill omen would be vacant or empty stables. Such an eventuality was a fore bearing of severe ills, evils and bad times to befall on the family.
Above all else no horses in the stables would signify that the family had lost the divine protection that the horses presence offered. So even in the most desperate of times the family would strive to keep at least one horse in the house. Hoping against hope that with time prosperity would return and the stables would be inhabited once again.
This short paragraph alone tells us that this is a very special breed of horse with a long and fascinating history, tracing its forbears back into the Golden ages of the Hindus, 6th - 7th Centuries BC or may be even before that.
