Days
Day 0l : Delhi :
Upon arrival, assistance and transfer to the pre-booked hotel. Morning free. Afternoon visit the Red Fort and Jami Masjid (mosque) of Old Delhi. ) O/n in hotel.
Day 02 : Delhi to Shimla :
Early morning Shatabdi Express to Chandigarh, arrive and drive to Shimla (2206 M- 230 km / 5 hrs.). Check into hotel for 2 nights. Overnight in hotel.
Day 03 : Shimla :
Morning at leisure. Afternoon visit to Viceregal Hall, built in 1888. Explore the bustling bazaar.
Day 04 : Shimla to Sangla ( 2680 M ) :
Early morning 235 kills drive, via Sarahan, to Sangia (about 8 hours). Enroute, a brief stop at Sarahan to visit the Bhimkali temple. Arrive at Sangla and camp overnight.
Day 05 : Sangla to Chitkul to Sangla :
Morning nature walks around the camp. Afternoon, we take a short excursion to Chitkul, which has some interesting temples and an old VIllage.
Day 06 : Sangla to Kalpa (2950 M ) :
After breakfast, drive (2 hrs/51kms) along the Sutlej River, and then from Powari through beautiful pine forests, to Kalpa, the former capital of Kinnaur. Our overnight stay is in a comfortable guesthouse, offering splendid views of snow-capped mountains.
Day 07 : Kalpa to Tabo (3050 M) :
After breakfast drive 6 hrs/147kms, along the cascading Sutlej River and then from Khab along Spiti rivers. Enroute visit to Nako, the 4 largest village in the Hangrang valley, with its small lake and five monasteries. We continue our drive through dramatic landscape to the camp at Tabo, where we will stay for two nights.
Day 08 : Tabo :
Visit to one of the most important Gompas -the planned place where the current Dalai Lama will retire. It houses some impressive murals and sculptures. We will also have time to visit Tabo Village and the beautiful small Lulung Gompa, which also houses some rare paintings. Overnight in camp.
Day 09 : Tabo to Kaza (3600 M ) :
Morning, after breakfast, 48 kms/2hrs.drive to Kaza, stopping at the 1000years old Dhankar Gompa, set in spectacular rocky setting and home to about 150 monks. We continue our journey to Kaza for our two nights stay in a Tibetan-style hotel.
Day 10 : Kaza :
After breakfast, visit to Ki Gompa, the oldest and the largest gompa in Spiti, which dominates the Ki village. Around 300 lamas receive their religious training here. You will find some beautiful paintings and scriptures of Buddha and other gods and goddesses. Afterwards, drive to Kibber Village, which claims to be the highest village in the world at 4205mts. Kibber was a part of the overland salt trade centuries ago and is pretty little place. Overnight in Hotel.
Day11 : Kaza to Keylong (3350M) :
Continue our jeep safari after breakfast to Keylong (190kms/7hrs) over the Kunzum pass (4551 M ). On the way you will have some fabulous views of the high-ranging snow clad mountains. Arrive Keylong and stay overnight in Hotel Dekit or Snow Land.
Day 12 : Keylong to Manali (2050 M) :
After breakfast we drive to Manali (114 kms/4hrs) over Rothang Pass (3978 M), which offers spectacular views of Pir Panjal Range and Lahaul's haunting beauty. Arrive Manali and stay in hotel.
Day 13 : Manali toPalampur (1219 M) :
After breakfast we drive (195 kms/7hrs), to the tea estate of Palampur in Kangra Valley. This drive takes us along the tumbling Beas River, through dense blue pine forests. We arrive in Palampur and stay 2 nights in a delightful Heritage Hotel.
Day 14 : Palampur :
Morning at leisure. Afternoon visit to Tashijong Monastery and school also visit to Baijnath Shiva temple, the temple is a good example of the Nagri style of architecture. O/n in heritage hotel.
Day 15 : Palampur to Dharamshala (1387M) :
A short drive (26kms/ 1 hr) to the headquarters of H.H. the Dalai Lama After noon visit to Dalai Lamas residence and monastery.
Day 16 : Dharamshala :
Explore the bustling bazaars and old medical centre, visit gompas, meet the local Tibetan people or walk in woods.
Day 17 : Dharamshala to Paragpur :
Another short drive of about 65 kms/1 hr to the only heritage village of India at Paragpur. Check into the hotel, afternoon visit to the ancient Jwalamukhi temple, one of the most important pilgrimage sites.
Day 18 : Paragpur to Amritsar :
After breakfast we drive 5 hrs to Amritsar (pool of Nectar). Evening visit to the peaceful Golden Temple. O/n Hotel.
Day 19 : Delhi :
Early morning Shatabdi Express train to Delhi, arrive Delhi and transfer to airport hotel.
