Days
Day 1
Arrive in Delhi and transfer to pre- booked hotel. Afternoon, explore Old Delhi. Overnight in hotel.
Day 2
After breakfast, drive to the Famous Corbett National Park (260kms/5hrs). Stay in Park Resort for two nights. The Park was established in 1936 and stretches over 518sq.km of stunning countryside. Home to tigers, leopards, elephants and a stunning variety of bird life.
Day 3
Morning and evening game viewing by Jeep or Elephant. Day free for nature walks and relaxing - giving you time to enjoy the diversity of bird life along the river. Overnight in resort.
Day 4
After early breakfast, drive 260kms/6 hrs to Rishikesh. Arrive and stay two nights at the 'Glass House', a magical place set in a sprawling lychee orchard on the banks of the sacred river Ganges. This peaceful bungalow has 8 rooms and 5 beautiful cottages, named after India's holy rivers.
Day 5
Morning free. Afternoon visit to Rishikesh and Aarti ceremony at Triveni Ghat, on the banks of the Ganges. Return to Bungalow for dinner and overnight.
Day 6
After breakfast, drive 125 kms to Mussoorie, the favorite summer resort of the Raj and now a popular holiday destination for Indians. Two night stay in Kasmanda Lodge, which was built in 1836 and became the summer retreat of the Kasmanda Royal family. The Maharaja still maintains his residence here. All 14 rooms have lovely views.
Day 7
Early morning drive up the hill to see the spectacular sunrise over the Himalaya. Return to hotel for breakfast. Afternoon, explore the colourful bazaar.
Day 8
A long drive (290 km) across the foothills to Shimla, the summer capital of the Raj during colonial times. Some of the architecture of Shimla would not look out of place in London! Stay two nights at Spring Fields, a palace which was built for the ex-Raja of Sheikhpura and his Rani, who could not stand the intense heat of Lahore. Spring Fields has 11 spacious rooms.
Day 9
Morning free. Afternoon visit to the Museum, Vice Regal Hall, bustling bazaar and some good book shops. Dinner and overnight in Spring Fields.
Day 10
After breakfast, a short 80km drive to Nalagarh. Stay overnight in the majestic Nalagarh Fort, which offers fine views over the Shivalik range of hills. Overnight in Fort.
Day 11
After breakfast, a stunning drive of 180kms/7hrs through rolling hills and breath taking scenery, takes us to Palampur where we will stay for 2 nights at Taragarh Palace. The palace, surrounded by forests and fragrant tea gardens, lies at the foot of the Dauladhar mountain in Kangra valley. It was built in the early 1930s as a summer retreat and has 12 rooms, all of which are decorated with period furniture.
Day 12
Morning free to wander through the tea gardens. Afternoon visit to Tashigang Monastery and the 5000 year old temple at Baijnath. Overnight in hotel.
Day 13
Leisurely drive to Dharamshala, home of the Tibetan community in exile. Enroute visit to Chamunda Devi temple and Norbulingka Tibetan workshop. Stay in Dharamshala for two nights.
Day 14
Today we visit the Dalai Lama's residence and monastery. You will also have time to explore Mcleodganj.
Day 15
Today short drive (70kms/3) to Paragpur, via Nagarkot Fort, which stands on a ridge surrounded by water on three sides. Drive on to Paragpur, where we will stay for two nights at Judges Court, which was built as a gift for Sir Justice Jai Lal. The house, set in acres of fruit orchards, has been lovingly restored by its charming owner. Evening stroll through the only heritage village in India.
Day 16
Morning free. Afternoon visit to Jwalamukhi Mata Temple, the most sacred Hindu temple in northern India. There is no idol in this beautifully located temple, inside the central divinity is a flame which issues forth from a deep well. The flame is believed to be a manifestation of the Goddess. Afternoon, a relaxing boat ride along the River Beas to see numerous birds. Overnight in Court.
Day 17
After breakfast drive 5 hrs to Amritsar, the Sikh's most sacred city. Stay Overnight in hotel. Evening visit to the Golden temple.
Day 18
Early start to watch sunrise over the Golden temple. Afternoon free. Evening, board fast train to Delhi. Arrive in Delhi and transfer to hotel for wash and change. Late night departure transfer to the airport.
Day 19
Early morning, fly back to your home country with memories you will keep forever!
