Description of site: A small, marshy tract along
the Indus. Recently, a road has been constructed bisecting the marsh into
two unequal parts. On the southwest side of the marsh, there is a fish pond
owned by the State Fisheries Department Climatic conditions: Arid Tibetan
climate characterised by marked differences between sun and shade, and night
and day temperatures. Humidity is low and there is very little precipitation
(average annual about 75 mm). Summer temperatures range from 0° C to 30° C,
winter temperatures from -10°C to as low as - 40°C

Land use: The marshes are used for fishing while the grasslands
around them are utilised for livestock grazing
Disturbances and threats: Construction of roads and houses
near the lake is leading to shrinkage of the lake
Economic and social values: Pasture for livestock. Marshes
are used for fishing Fauna: Important transit place for migratory birds such
as mallard, pintail, ruddy shelduck, coot, moorhen, and wood sandpiper
