THE REMARKABLES SKI IN NEWZEALAND
Access: 40mins from Queenstown Ski area: 220ha
Terrain: beginners 30%, intermediate 40%, advanced 30%
Best season: late June to October
Snow making: yes
You’re wondering how it got its name, right? It could have something to do with it being the most southerly ski resort in the world. Or something to do with its awesome snow conditions. Like Coronet Peak, The Remarkables is an excellent ski destination for beginners and radical skiers alike. On one side, gentle slopes offer relaxing conditions for novices and intermediates; on the other side, adrenaline freaks can power down black diamond runs like Escalator and Gallipoli chutes. There are over 18 runs likes these for expert skiers. The Remarkables also offer telemarking, and cross country skiing is available on Lake Alta, a short walk from the top of the double chairlift.
Queenstown is still the best place to stay if you’re skiing The Remarkables. The drive up the mountain every, morning takes approximately 40mins.
