There are many caves (gua in Bahasa Malaysia) in the park-These have mostly been sculptured by underground rivers flowing through limestone outcrops. The caves are Horne to various bats, racer snakes and insects. Visitors should come prepared with torches and seek the services of a good guide as they are not places to become lost. Torches can be hired from the TNR or purchased from the mini-mart Gua Telinga is located 2.6 kilometres (1.6 milesi. within one hour’s walk or ten 7 boat trip from Kuala Tahan. The return walk from the riverbank to the cave takes about one hour.
From Kuala Keniam Lodge visitors can explore the Gua Duan Menari (Cave of the Dancing Leaves), Gua Luas and Gua Kepayang. The caves are located in an isolated area of the park, 2h hours boat ride from Kuala Tahan.
Serious cavers can explore some of the more distant caves in the park. Expeditions are often mounted by such cavers, many of whom belong to MNS. Interested cavers cooking to join such expeditions should contact MNS for further details.
