The Sliabh an Iarainn Sunset is the First Wheelchair Accessible Waterbus in Ireland and the only passenger vessel on the Shannon-Erne Waterway. It is also the only Riverbus in Europe to take you through restored Victorian Locks (which are operated by the use of a swipe card).
Located in Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim, it provides the perfect setting for a trip on the recently-restored waterway. Experience the gentle pace of life as you meander through the beautifully restored, cut-stone, Victorian Locks and onwards until you reach the wide expanses of St. John’s Lake, Lough Scur or Garadice Lake.
The double glazed windows in this fully-enclosed, heated, luxurious vessel are specifically designed to give you the maximum view of the surrounding countryside, as we make our way through the canal system.
The pilot of the Sliabh an Iarainn Sunset is an experienced pilot and storyteller, who will weave his magic and create a trip to remember for you and your family/group. On board you can relax on the spacious sun-deck or enjoy light refreshments in our comfortable cabin. The trip itself takes 2 hours during which time you will be fully entertained in comfort and style.
In conjunction with other providers, we can offer a range of packages to suit your individual needs. Family parties, staff outings, team building groups (which would involve a full day’s activity) are all available. We also offer our popular dinner sailing with live music on board, as we sail from Davy’s Cottage Restaurant on Swan Island Farm. Teachers and students alike will thoroughly enjoy our School Tour Programme, which includes a visit to Glenview Museum.
All of the above attractions are family owned and run and you are assured of a personal friendly service.
