Ayurveda Center at Taj Residency Calicut
Tai Ayurveda Centre The promise is alluring... restoration of harmony between the mind, body and soul. The Taj Ayurvedic Centre located at the five star Taj Residency, Calicut strives to do just that. And after the ministrations to your city-stiff spine and spirit, you may feel completely at home in your body.
Created as an oasis of luxury and a sanctuary of relaxation, it is managed by the premier Ayurveda institution in India, the Ayushman Ayurvedic Trust, affiliated to the Arya Vaidya Pharmacy (Coimbatore) Ltd. The center offers many kinds of rejuvenation programs geared to preventing disease, according to a brochure on the center. And all this in the palm-studded state of Kerala which, legend has it, was carved out by the axe-wielding Parasurama.
Moored in Calicut, a town wreathed in ancient charm and mystery, the center provides treatment for ailments such as rheumatoid arthritis, spondylitis, migraine and paralysis. Centrally air-conditioned and fully equipped with qualified doctors, trained therapists and yoga instructors, the facilities include three treatment rooms (with self-contained bathrooms and steam rooms), a Yoga Room and Meditation Centre. Two guest rooms within the center itself are meant for those undertaking prolonged treatment. There is also a separate doctor’s room, an astrologer’s room, a medicine room, kitchen and special lounge.
Ayurveda adopts a holistic approach to the health of an individual based on a study of the psychological, behavioral, lifestyle and environmental factors, states the brochure. The fact that the medication administered has no unpleasant side effects helps in the final recovery of the patient.
What’s more, Ayurveda believes that the human body operates in cycles that occur in multiples of seven. The rejuvenation programs are therefore designed over a period of seven days extendable to 14, and 21 days, or even 35 days. The seven-day program is geared towards revitalising an individual, leading to a feeling of vitality. The 21-day program works as a process of detoxification while the 35-day program is the ideal therapeutic package.
On a typical day, you awake from a restful night’s sleep, begin your day with an hour of yoga and meditation, followed by a specially prescribed breakfast. Sessions with the therapists and masseurs are punctuated only by lunch and a period of rest.
Generally speaking, the therapy—a blend of herbal medicine, oil treatment, yoga sessions and medicated steam baths is designed to draw the toxins from the body, restore the bio-chemical balance and minimize stress levels.
