itinerary
Day 1: Guwahati Arrive at
Guwahati. Pick up from station /airport and transfer to hotel. Guwahati is
located at the river Brahmaputra. Later embark on sightseeing of Guwahati by
car. You visit Kamakhya temple, Nabagraha temple (temple of nine planet),
Umananda temple situated on the peacock island in the middle of Brahmaputra
river and musuem. Transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel in Guwahati.
Day
2: Guwahati - Manas Morning drive to Manas National Park and Tiger
Reserve (176 km). Check in forest bunglow. The park straddles two rivers,
the Manas and its tributary the Hakua, along the Assam-Bhutan border. Manas
houses 19 of India's most endangered animal populations, home to the rare
golden langur and a sizeable tiger population. Its wetlands are essential
for the survival of the fast-vanishing hispid hare and pygmy hog. The fauna
to be found here include the rhino, wild buffalos, elephants, gaur, swamp
deer, capped langur and clouded leopard. The park, the eastern range of the
chital and habitat of the sambar deer, also boasts a rich and diverse avian
population. The main highlight is the giant hornbill, two subspecies of
which, the pied and grey varieties, are to be found here. After refreshments
proceed for boating on the river to view wildlife along with guide. Evening
return to forest bunglow. Overnight at forest bunglow in Manas National Park
and Tiger Reserve.
Day 3: Manas - GuwahatiMorning
proceed for an elephant safari inside the national park. Later get back to
the forest bunglow. Afternoon proceed back for Guwahati. Evening reach
Guwahati. Check in hotel. Overnight at hotel in Guwahati.
Day 4: Guwahati - Kaziranga In the morning drive to Kaziranga
National Park (220 km). Kaziranga is famous for the great One-Horned Rhinos.
Tigers which are natural enemies of rhinos are also there in sizable numbers
in this area. Other attractions of this national park include the wild
buffalo, magnificent swamp deer, hog deer, wild boar, Hoolok gibbon, capped
langur and ratel (badger). Amongst the birds, the crested serpent eagle is
common while palla's fishing eagle and gray headed fishing eagle are
frequently seen. Others include the Great Adjutant Stork, crane, Bengal
floricab, bar-headed goose, whistling teal, and pelican. Reach Kaziranga and
check in resort inside the park. Afternoon proceed for a jeep safari inside
the park to view wildlife with your guide. Overnight in resort at Kaziranga
National Park.
Day 5: Kaziranga Enjoy
early morning elephant safari inside the national park. Later proceed for a
jeep safari inside the park. Overnight in resort at Kaziranga National Park.
Day 6: Kaziranga - Guwahati In the
morning drive to Guwahati (220 km). Drop to station / airport for onward
journey.
