located within Peppara Wildlife Sanctuary, which covers an area of 5300 ha

an average annual rainfall of 2500 mm. Maximum temperature is 34°C and minimum
15°C
Principal vegetation: Major forest types are tropical
semi-evergreen, and tropical moist deciduous. There are some plantations
Fauna: Among the mammals are elephant, sambar, deer,
leopard, and nilgiri langur. Waterfowl include cormorants, darters, grey herons,
purple herons, and coots
