KARABI: Hanging out
Thailand
Along the narrow peninsula of Phra Nang in southern Thailand lie a series of idyllic beaches with some of the best rock climbing in Asia. The best-known of these Krabi — has become a cult destination for climbers who are lured here by the huge limestone stacks, smooth walls and craggy rock formations, some of which soar to over 100m above pristine white pockets of sand and long curving stretches of beach lapped by translucent waters.
The laid-back lifestyle and the energetic local climbing scene are as much a part of the experience as the actual rock climbing. After a draining day spent navigating rock faces, cool off in the sea or sip a cold beer by the beach. The nearby Phi Phi islands are just as stunning and have some brilliant climbing routes, many of which are still to be discovered.
