November and December are the months of rebirth in Zambia's famed Luangwa Valley. After a long dry season, the first storms arrive with plenty of drama, thunder and lightening. The bush is bursting with new life - the green, green grass pushes through and new leaves are shooting. Everywhere the green is incredibly intense and is decorated with the purples, pinks and yellows of the flowers.
The Camp is closed through the months of the heavy rain (Jan, Feb, March) and it reopens as the last of the storms break in April. Having been closed the area has a sense of being more wild and untouched. Few camps are open and there even fewer travellers than usual.
The migrant birds are breeding, the bush is lush and the skies are incredibly clear and blue. The river is high and there is lots of fun boating around. The game is still prolific, as much of it is on the high ground - where the roads are! The lagoons are full and the water birds everywhere. This is a wonderful time of the year to discover this remote corner of Zambia.
