DAY 1: LONDON - CALAIS (FRANCE) - BELGIUM -AMSTERDAM (HOLLAND).
You meet your Tour Manger this morning at the London Ryan Hotel, then you’re off to Calais in France. Belgium’s Flanders Fields and the reclaimed lands of Holland take us to the canals, houseboats and bridges of Amsterdam, the ‘Venice of the North’. Then to your hotel in the Dutch countryside.
DAY 2: AMSTERDAM - COLOGNE - RHINE CRUISE - RHINELAND (GERMANY).
Taste Dutch cheese and watch clogs being made this morning. Then into Germany to visit the magnificent 13th century Cologne Cathedral. Now you follow the Rhine for a memorable cruise past cliff-top castles, half-timbered houses and terraced vineyards. Hear about the legend of the Lorelei and admire Pfalz Castle sitting in the middle of the river.
DAY 3: RHINELAND - GERMAN ALPS -INNSBRUCK (AUSTRIA).
Magnificent scenery through the wooded Bavarian Alps for views of ‘Mad’ King Ludwig’s fairytale castle of Neuschwanstein. Over the Austrian border to the beautiful setting of Innsbruck, capital of the Tyrol, where you see the impressive Golden Roof and Imperial Palace. Tonight, how about a lively folklore show?
DAY 4: INNSBRUCK - LIECHTENSTEIN - LAKE LUCERNE (SWITZERLAND).
Spectacular Alpine scenery all the way as you leave the Austrian Alps for a stop in the small Principality of Liechtenstein, dominated by 200 year old Vaduz Castle. Then along the Walensee Lake to lovely Lucerne surrounded by breathtaking snow-capped peaks. Here you see the 14th century covered Chapel Bridge and the emotive Lion Monument. Time to shop for watches, chocolates or cuckoo clocks. Finally to your hotel.
DAY 5: LAKE LUCERNE - PARIS (FRANCE).
You pass the Swiss port of Basel into France, skirting the Jura mountains you continue through the vineyards of Burgundy and Forests of Fontainbleau to Paris. Tonight, let your evening be brightened by the city’s incomparable illuminations?
DAY 6: PARIS - SIGHTSEEING.
With a local guide this morning you see Gamier’s Opera House, Napoleon’s Arc de Triomphe, the Champs Elysee and the Eiffel Tower, then visit Quasimodo’s Notre Dame Cathedral. Then perhaps time at leisure to explore the treasures of the Louvre or shop for Paris fashions. And tonight, don’t miss the nightlife - a lively cabaret or a typical Parisian bistro. The choice is yours!
DAY 7: PARIS - LONDON.
Alongside the highway to Calais, you see poignant reminders of the great battles of World War I and memorials like that on Vimy Ridge. Then you embark for Dover and on to London.
