15-day escorted tour

This fascinating land, the only Hindu Kingdom in the world, is surrounded b Himalayan mountains and only opened Its borders to a few tourists in 1950. There are now regular flights and modern hotels in Kathmandu but the old annual remains. We visit Buddhist stapes with their saffron robed monks, Hindu where there are constant flows of devotees, and mediaeval towns, not lying forge but still peopled by the smiling and friendly Nepalese.

During our stay In Nepal we visit a game reserve set in the jungle and hi opportunity to trek and camp in the beautiful countryside.


SATURDAY DEPARTURES

ITINERARY

1st day

Leave London Gatwick in the evening by Royal Nepal Airlines for Kathmandu.

KATHMANDU VALLEY

2nd day

Arrive Kathmandu in the afternoon and transfer to the Himalaya Hotel.

3rd day

In the morning we will visit the Temple of Swayambhunath situated high on a hill with a panoramic view of the valley walk round the ancient city of Kathmandu. Afternoon free.


GAIDA WILDLIFE LODGE

4th and 5th day

From Kathmandu drive to the jungle lowlands of Nepal to the Royal Chitwan National Park, one of Asia’s finest reserves and famous for rhinoceros and the elusive Royal Bengal Tiger. Stay at the Gaida Wildlife Lodge. Jungle excursions to view the wildlife are arranged.

6th day

Drive from Gaida to Pokhara, a beautiful mountain-lake resort in the foothills of the Annapurnas, where we will have a chance to relax at the Fishtail Lodge before we commence the energetic pan of our itinerary.

HIMALAYAN TREK

7th to 10th day

During the next four days, we will trek in the Annapurna foothills from Pokhara, accompanied by local guides and porters. The first tented camp along the trail is made at Mardi Khola from where you walk along the river to Dhampus Ridge before descending to the village of Lamle and then on to Naudanda and the last camp at Sarankot. The final night is spent at the Fishtail Lodge. Arrangements can be made by prior request to stay at the Lodge instead of trekking

11th day

Fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu. On arrival transfer to the Dhullkhel Mountain Resort for overnight.

12th day

Morning free. In the afternoon return to Kathmandu visiting Bhaktapur, Pasupatinath and Bodhnath an route. Stay at the Himalaya Hotel.

13th and 14th day

Free in Kathmandu.

15th day

Transfer to the airport for the return flight by Royal Nepal Airlines to London Gatwick arriving later the same day. Alternatively fly to Delhi for our 6 day extension in the Indian capital.

MEALS

Half Board in Kathmandu and Dthuliki Full Board elsewhere.

Single rooms are limited in number and occasionally may not be available outside of Kathmandu

Supplement for staying at Fishtail Lodge (Days 7-10)

This tour is planned to suit the more adventurous travelers who is prepared to camp walk trekking and stay In comfortable but rustic accommodation in sane of the more remote places. The day to day trekking route Is subject to though, due In Prevailing, local sanctions.
