Day 1
London/Johannesburg: Non-stop overnight British Airways flight to Johannesburg.
Day 2
Johannesburg/Port Elizabeth: Short connecting flight to Port Elizabeth. Transfer to Protea Marine or similar for overnight.
Day 3
Port Elizabeth/Knysna: Travel through the Tsitsikamma Forest towards the romantic seaside resort of Knysna where the next 2 nights are spent at Protea Knysna Quays (B,D)
Day 4
Knysna: Take a steam train journey on the Outeniqua ChooTjoe. from Sedgefield to George. (NB: from 15 May – 15 Aug the Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe does not operate – lunch will be offered as an alternative). Admire the stunning view of The Heads, with the opportunity, if time permits, to taste the local oysters (not included)
Day 5
Knysna/Oudtshoorn: Drive through the spectacular Outeniqua Pass to Oudtshoorn, enjoy a tour of an ostrich farm. Overnight at Rosenhof Country Lodge
Day 6
Oudtshoorn/Cape Town: Travel via Calitzdorp, Barrydale and the Tradouw Pass to Swellendam and the seaside village of Hermanus, famous as a favourite breeding site of the Southern Right Whale (whale sighting are seasonal between July and November). Arrive Cape Town late in the afternoon. 3 nights Winchester Mansions
Day 7
Cape Town (Cape Peninsula): Weather permitting, enjoy a leisurely walk in the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Travel past Sea Point and Camps Bay, past the famous beaches of Clifton and Llandudno towards Hout Bay and the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. Drive along the Indian Ocean coastline and visit beautiful Boulders Beach, where you have the option to sit among the famous colony of Jackass penguins,
Day 8
Cape Town (Winelands): Escape to the tranquillity and ‘olde worlde’charm of the Winelands, visiting prize-winning wine estates, for wine tasting and tours. Continue to Dorp Street in Stellenbosch to visit the world-famous 19th Century Shop, ‘Oom Samies se Winkel’, before returning to your hotel.
Day 9
Cape Town/London: Morning at leisure to explore the city. Overnight non-stop British Airways flight to Heathrow.
Day 10
London: Arrive Heathrow
Departures: From Heathrow every Friday.
