Nearest Railway Station: Jabalpur (170 km), Nagpur (270 km)
Best Season: February to June. The park remains closed from July 1 to October 31 because of heavy monsoon

(Kanha is a top-end wildlife sanctuary. Accommodation and food is excellent The Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation jeeps are available for touring the park. For Tiger tracking, Elephants are used accompanied by trained guides provided by Forest Department).
Kanha is one of Asia’s well-maintained National park and is located in the Maikal Range. It is the sole habitat of rare Hardground Barasinghas.
Kanha boasts of 22 species of mammals like Gaur (largest cattle), Sambhar and Chausingha (the only four-horned Antelope), etc. Some 200 species of avian life thrives, including Cattle Egret, Black Ibis, Hawk Eagle and Red Wattled Lapwing.
Kanha’s sal and bamboo forests, rolling grasslands and meandering streams stretch over 940 sq km of natural splendour. The Bamni Dadar area is best for excellent sunset view. Sambhars, Gaurs, four-horned Antelopes and Barking Deers can be found here.
Khatia and Mukki are the two main entry points. By air the nearest airports are at Jabalpur and Nagpur. By road, a daily bus service is available for Kisli and Mukki from Jabalpur.
Kanha Safari Lodge (Mukki), Bhagira Log Huts of Kisli and Tourist Hostel at Kisli run by Madhya Pradesh Tourism are best bets. Authorities recommend a stay of 3 nights to get really good sights of animals.
