Tiger, Corbett National ParkIt was 'Carpet Sahib' who laid the foundation stone of Jim Corbett National Park named it after himself. Corbett National park, the first of its kind, was established in 1963 and designated to be as Project Tiger Reserve in the year 1973. Blessed with abundance of flora and verdure the national park has some 110 tree species, 50 mammals species, 580 bird species and 25 reptile species of animals and plants. The Corbett National Park is visited by many every year to see those wilds inhabitants of the land of "trumpets, roar and songs" or Corbett National Park.

Corbett is an ideal place to trace those pug marks that are the classic sun sign of the tiger activity. Later comes the prey of the tigers and those are dears. The park has four kinds of deers, wild boars and some lesser known yet appealing animals. You can also finds leopards, cats and fishing cats meandering freewheelingly. In the lower regions of the park there are animals like sloth bear, himalaya black bear, dole or wild dog and jackals. Some of the other park residents are palm civet, Indian gray mongoose, common otter, blacknaped hare and porcupine,long-snouted, fish-eating gharial crocodile Goat, antelopes, langur and rhesus monkeys. Monkeys, of course, ease out your gruelling task of catching a a glimpse of tigers because they screech a lot on seeing them.

Deer, Corbett National Parkyou blame it on the tigers and the elephant that take away your time. Now here is the news, Corbett is the largest bird sanctuary with over 600 species of birds. More than 50 species of resident and migratory birds have been recorded here. Peacock, Kaleej pheasant, black partridge, pallas's fishing,eagle,white collared falconet, stork billed kingfisher, wall creeper, brown fish owl, brown eared and black bulbul and several species of woodpeckers and parakeets are some of the attractive birds found in the Corbett National Park.
Access
Flying :The nearest domestic airport to Corbett National Park is 50 kms away from Corbett National Park at Phoolbagh, Pantnagar.
On the rail track : The nearest railway station to Corbett National Park is Ramnagar, which is 12 kms from the Park. The Ranikhet Express is a common train that plies between Delhi and Ramnagar, departing from Delhi.
Road Mapping : Driving down to Corbett National Park is the most preffered way. It takes approximately six hours from Delhi to cover the 295-km stretch.
Accommodation
Corbett National ParkThere are various tourist accommodation is available at Corbett's main campsite in Dhikala, which includes three-room cabins, forest rest houses, huts, tents and log hut dormitories. There are, in addition, Forest Rest houses at Khinanauli, Sarpduli, Gairal, Sultan, Bijrani, Malani, Kanda, Dhela and Jhirna. Accommodation is also available in private lodges and resorts outside the Park.
