The beauty of the Bandhvagarh National Park is known to have enticed Rudyard Kipling where after he produced the wonderful Jungle Book. Bandhavgarh National Park is small yet beautiful park with the highest track of white tigers. The one time hunting reserves of Maharajahs of Rewa was established as a National Park in 1968. Rocky hills interspersed with grassy swamps and dense forest that makes larger part of Bandhavgarh National Forest. Dominated by the Bandhavgarh Forest the National Park has some forty and plus tigers residing amidst the extensive strands of Bamboo and grasslands. The park is inhabited by 22 species of wildlife, including the regal 'gaur', myriad varieties of deer, and other species such as the striped hyena, jungle cat and sloth bear and over 250 species of birds. The mind blowing variety of the flora and fauna, preserved utterly, at Bandhavgarh does have a captivating effect.

The most commonly seen birds in Bandhavgarh National Park are the grey hornbill, lesser adjutant stork, little grebes, lesser adjutants, lesser whistling teal, minivets, pied hornbill, paradise flycatchers, peafowl, red jungle fowl, red wattled lapwing, steppe eagle, tickell's flycatcher,bee-eaters, blossom-headed parakeets, drongos, common teal, crested serpent eagle, white-eyed buzzard, white-breasted kingfisher, white-browed fantail flycatcher, wood shrikes and warblers among many more.
Access
Flying :The nearest airport is Khajuraho. The Tala Park entrance to Bandhavgarh from Khajuraho is 7-8 hours drive.
On the rail track : Nearest railway station is Umaria after Katani railway station, from there it is about 40 minutes drive to Nature Heritage. Alternatively, take the overnight train from Delhi to Umaria and drive (30 minutes) to the park. Only jeeps are available for transfers. Khajuraho / Bandhavgarh distance is 250 Kms, (8 hrs drive).
Road Mapping : Driving to Bandahvgarh National Park may be a long journey, but of course, full of fun. The National Park can be accessed by road from Jabalpur, Satna, Katni, Umeria, Bilaspur and Khajuraho.
