Wildlife in North India

Day 1:Delhi Arriving by British Airways at 06.00 hrs.
Meals: on own
You will be met at Delhi International Airport as you leave the arrivals area by an Asian Adventures representative with a placard and taken to check in at India Habitat Centre. Rest of day at your leisure.

Day 2: Meals on own
After breakfast, drive to Jaipur ( 4 hours) and check in at Hotel Shahpura House. Rest of the day to explore Jaipur at leisure.

Day 3: Jaipur Meals: Breakfast

Guided tour of some of Jaipur's finest architectural sites, including Amber Fort and Palace of the Winds. Overnight at Hotel Shahpura House.

Day 4: Jaipur - Bharatpur

Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
After breakfast drive to Bharatpur ( 4 hours) and check in at Hotel Sunbird where you will have lunch. Overnight at Hotel Sunbird.


Day 5: Bharatpur

Meals: Breakfast, lunch (or packed lunch) and dinner
Spend a full day exploring the park with a guide either by rickshaw or on bikes (you can choose whether you want to pedal or not!). Your guide will take you to look for nightjars, owls and Indian pythons.

Day 6: Bharatpur - Agra
Meals: Breakfast and packed lunch (from Sunbird)
After breakfast leave for Agra, stopping at Fatephur Sikri World Heritage Site en route, where you will have a guide to show you around the old cities of Fatephur and Sikri (they are next to each other). Continue on to Agra with the option of a late afternoon visit to the Taj Mahal. Night at Hotel Pushp Villa.


Day 7: Agra Meals: On own

Spend the day in Agra. You can decide whether you want to visit the Taj Mahal again and there will be plenty of time for the Red Fort. A day ticket bought first thing at the Taj will give you access to the Red Fort and Akbar's mausoleum at Sikandra (10km from Red Fort). The cost of a guide is included at each location. Overnight at Hotel Pushp Villa.

Day 8: Agra - Jhansi - Panna Meals: Dinner

Take an early breakfast and leave in plenty of time to catch the 08.15 hrs train from Agra which arrives at Jhansi at 11.00 hrs. Enjoy the 3 ½ hr drive through rural Madhya Pradesh to check in at Panna Tiger Resort. Enjoy the rest of the afternoon relaxing by the River Ken.

Day 9: Panna
Meals: Packed Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Enjoy morning and afternoon jeep safaris in Panna National Park. Check with PTR staff what time the safaris start. You'll have chance to relax for a couple of hours in the middle of the day. Overnight at Panna Tiger Resort.


Day 10: Panna - Khajuraho - Jhansi - Agra - Lal Kuan

Meals: Breakfast
After leisurely breakfast visit Khajuraho temples on the journey back to Jhansi where you will catch the 16.00 hrs train to Agra. At Agra you will need to board the 23.20 hrs overnight first class a/c sleeper to Lal Kuan.

Day 11: Lal Kuan - Pangot
Meals: Lunch and dinner
The train will arrive at Lal Kuan around 08.30 hrs where you will be met at the station by your driver. Drive to Pangot (3 hours) and check in at Jungle Lore Birding Lodge where you can relax for the afternoon.


Day 12: Pangot area
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Enjoy short treks and a visit to Snow View at Nainital.

Day 13: Pangot - Corbett
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
After breakfast, drive to Corbett (3 hours) and check in at Tiger Camp where you will stay in a cottage. Explore the local area - the Kosi River behind Tiger Camp is worth a walk (on your own) or your driver could take you to Kumeria.

Day 14: Corbett
Meals: Breakfast/packed breakfast, lunch and dinner
Enjoy a drive through Corbett National Park and check in to Dhikala Forest Lodge. Leave as early as you can to increase your chance of seeing tiger. Take an afternoon jeep driver with a guide. Look out for elephants, the rare Garial (fish-eating crocodile with a thin snout) and a wide variety of birding including hornbills.


Day 15: Corbett - Ramnagar
Meals: Breakfast
Get up early for an elephant safari . After the safari have breakfast and then leave Dhikala for a slow drive back through the park looking for wildlife. Stop en route for meals and allow plenty of time to catch the 21.10 hrs second class a/c sleeper train back to Delhi.


Day 16: Delhi
Meals: On own
Arrive 04.45 at Delhi station where you will be met by an Asian Adventures representative and taken to check in to the India Habitat Centre where you will have a room for the day (- note the day rate is the same as having it all night, so if you have an early morning flight on Day 19 this won't cost extra). Day at leisure with a car at your disposal. This can include morning guided tour of Old Delhi, including the Red Fort, Jama Masjid. Night at India Habitat Centre.


Day 17
Fly home with British Airways flight departing 08.00 hrs. You will be taken to the Airport to catch your flight.
