Bharatpur National Park

Day 1: Delhi
Meals: On own
Arrive in Delhi on morning Virgin Atlantic flight at 10.45 hrs. You will be welcomed at the airport by Suraj, your guide, and taken to Hotel Vikram. Enjoy a ½ day sightseeing and in the evening visit the Red Fort to watch the "Sun et Lumire" which is an inter play of colorful lights and sound tracing, the history of the monument to the present day.

Day 2: Delhi-Bharatpur
Meals: Breakfast and dinner
Spend the morning visiting some extra sights in Delhi, then drive to Bharatpur (4+ hours). Overnight stay in Hotel Sunbird.


Day 3: Bharatpur
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Full day Birdwatching at Bharatpur with Suraj. Overnight stay in Hotel Sunbird.

Day 4: Bharatpur and area
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Arrange as early a breakfast as possible and visit Bund Baretha for half a day to look for waterbirds, including Indian Skimmer. In the afternoon visit Jatouli Village and meet Surajs family. Overnight stay in Hotel Sunbird.

Day 5: Bharatpur and area
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Spend the morning in the bird sanctuary and in the afternoon take an excursion to the water palace at Deeg. Overnight stay in Hotel Sunbird.

Day 6: Bharatpur - Agra
Meals: Breakfast
Set off after breakfast to Agra, stopping at Fatehpur Sikri World Heritage Site enroute. Drop of your bags at Hotel Pushp Villa and if there is time visit the Red Fort before arriving at the Taj Mahal mid afternoon and staying until around sunset. Night at Hotel Pushp Villa.

Day 7: Agra - Chambal - Agra
Meals: Breakfast
Set off as early as possible to make maximize on the best time of day for birdwatching. Drive to the National Chambal Sanctuary (1 ½ hrs). Enjoy a boat trip on the river and look out for the rare Ganges River Dolphin, Gharial and also Indian Skimmer. Located on the River Chambal, the sanctuary is a refuge for over 250 species of birds, including Pallas's Gull, Black-bellied Tern and Great Thick-knee. You should also see Marsh Crocodile and if you are lucky Smooth Coated Otters. Boat ride at Chambal included. Return to Agra for a second night at Hotel Pushp Villa.


Day 8: Agra - Jhansi - Panna
Meals: Breakfast and dinner
After an early breakfast, catch the 08.15 train to Jhansi, arriving at 11am. You will be met at Jhansi station and transferred to Panna National Park (3½ hours) by car. Overnight in Panna Tiger Resort right next to the River Ken. Look out for the nightjars around the cottages.

Day 9: Panna National Park
Meals: Packed breakfast, lunch and dinner
Morning and afternoon drives each day in the park for tiger-tracking and wildlife viewing. Panna is also good for Leopard and birding generally. In between jeep drives you can relax for a couple of hours at the resort or walk along the River Ken where you might see stork-billed kingfisher and a wide variety of passerines. Overnight stay in Panna Tiger Resort. Note, if a tiger is found away from vehicle tracks and the elephants are near by, it might be possible to transfer to an elephant. This would be payable directly if this service is used.

Day 10: Panna - Jhansi - Agra
Meals: Breakfast
After breakfast leave for Jhansi visiting Khajuraho Temples on the way. Note, if you wish to skip the temples and include an extra jeep safari (to pay directly) please speak to staff at Panna the day before to see if this is possible. Catch the early evening train departing 18.00 hrs arriving in Agra at 20.35 hrs to Agra. Night at Hotel Pushp Villa.

Day 11: Agra - Delhi
Meals: Breakfast
After breakfast, drive to Delhi stopping at wetlands enroute. Arrive late afternoon for shopping. Overnight at Hotel Vikram.

Day 12: Delhi
Meals: Breakfast
Transfer to the airport for your Virgin Atlantic flight home departing 13.10 hrs..

Cost per person based on two people sharing £1000 per person.
