Alluvial mining appears to have been confined t the valleys of the Krishna and Pannar rivers in certain parts only. As far as ti can be determined now, vast stretches of these river places still remain virgin and there are indications that systematic prospecting may be rewarding.

Other large untapped locations in Madhya Pradesh, Orissa and the southern Indian tracts are also there which hold promise of good diamond deposits.

Some tribal areas of Madhya Pradesh are yielding alluvial diamonds but the remote areas have not been exploited properly. Whatever the tribals pick up from the fields, is bought cheaply by visiting dealers.

Orissa, the multi-gem producing eastern State of India, has also joined the diamond producers lately. Alluvial diamonds have been found there in the Mahanadi bed. De Beers have shown interest in surveying and mining in this State. Pratapgarh area in southern Rajasthan too promises to be a diamond yielding area.
