Zanzibar gleams in the afternoon sun. It is a fairytale set in a harbour of aquamarine and the scent of cloves is intoxicating. Palm trees lean beside white Arabic houses, men walk by wearing long white robes, women wrap the black bui-bui around bright dresses and in the harbour white Dhows glide by. Any minute you expect to see Ali Baba or the odd genie.
