THURSDAY DEPARTURES
ITINERARY
1st day
Leave London Heathrow in the morning by Thai Airways
International for Delhi. On arrival transfer to the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza.
2nd day
Afternoon tour of Old Delhi
3rd day
At leisure.
4th day
Fly to the old Moghul capital of Agra. Stay at the
Clarks Shiraz Hotel.
5th day
Morning sightseeing tour including the Taj Mahal
and Agra Fort.
6th day
Return to Delhi and the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza.
7th day
Depart by coach via Chandigarh to Chail, in the foothills
of the Himalayas. Stay at the Chail Palace Hotel.
8th day
At leisure in Chail, once the summer capital of the
princely s1ste of Patiala.
9th day
Leave after lunch for the short drive to Simla, where
we stay at the Oberoi Clarkes Hotel.
10th day
At leisure in Simla, the summer capital of British
India. Simla abounds in memories of its glorious past, and it was here that
Rudyard Kipling based his famous “Plain Tales from the Hills”. You
may take the opportunity to stroll along the Mall, the main street on a crescent-shaped
ridge, or visit the colourful bazaar.
11th day
Leave Simla for a long but spectacular day’s
drive to Katrain, we arrive for dinner and accommodation at the Span Resort.
12th to 14th day
Three days in the Kulu Valley (5,000 ft) a perfect
place for relaxing, fishing, walking or just medi1sting upon the incredibly
beautiful Himalayan scenery. Several optional excursions are available.
15th day
Leave Katrain for our return drive to Chandigarh
where we have dinner and stay overnight at the Mount View Hotel. 16th day Morning
return drive to Delhi and the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza.
17th day
Depart by Thai Airways for London arriving
later the same day.
The hotels used in the more remote areas are not first class. They are, however, the best available. The tour involves same long and fairly strenuous coach journeys but we feel the scenery and interest make the experience well worthwhile.
