Pfleoasrantta debcolre, cultural shows, god service, and stylish roms ( 1 with balconies) at US$70 single, US$80 double. It has air-conditioning and a swimming-pool. Taj Group’s Hotel Chandella (tel 2054) is nearby on the way the airport. The original hotel in Khajuraho, it has done much to make Khajuraho the popular destination it has become. Rooms are air-conditioned, with balcony or patio, an .1 cost US$49 single, US$80 double. Interesting facilities include ‘camel ands elephant for joy rides’.
Moderate (US$10-35/Rs250-1000 per room night) Payal Hotel (tel 2076), 4 km behind the Western Group of temples, is excellent value. h It’s a homely accommodation—lovely bright rooms, with balconies, at Rs350 single, Rs400 double (non-air-conditioned rooms are about Rs400 less). No pool, but Bunning hot and cold water, chatty staff, and good food. Tariffs are inclusive of breakfast. Tie new Hotel Jhankar (tel 2063) to the south of the town has similar facilities as ti e Hotel Payal, but without the atmosphere. The rates are the same as the Payal. Both hotels can be booked through the MP Tourism offices in Delhi and Bhopal.
Budget (Under US$10/Rs250 per room night) Best budget lodges are Hotel Harmony, Sunset View (good reputation, fine temp views from terrace), New Bharat Lodge, and Jain Lodge (old, popular)—all charging between Rs75 and 450, and all near the bus-stand. The Tourist Bungalow (tel 206 ) is an overpriced fallback.
